Terms of service

These terms are between you and CiteSite (“we”). By creating an account you accept them. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you may bind it.

The privacy policy forms part of this agreement.

You need a working email address, and you must be old enough to enter a contract where you live. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep access to your inbox secure — anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.

You may add a website if you own it, operate it, or have permission from whoever does. Competitor tracking is limited to what is publicly published: we read pages the way any visitor or search engine would, and we respect what a site says about automated access.

You may not point CiteSite at private or internal hosts, at systems you are not authorised to reach, or at anyone else’s infrastructure in order to burden it.

You can run one analysis before entering any payment details. Reading the full report starts a 3-day free trial, which requires a card. Nothing is charged during the trial. Cancel before it ends and you pay nothing.

After the trial, plans renew monthly at the price shown on the pricing page until you cancel. Payments are handled by Stripe, and you can change or cancel your plan yourself from your billing portal at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period you are already in.

If a payment fails we may suspend scanning while keeping your data. If prices change we will tell you before it affects a renewal.

Each plan includes a stated number of websites, prompts, competitors and content generations, listed on the pricing page. Limits are enforced, not advisory. Fair use applies: the service is priced against real API costs, and we may contact you before restricting an account whose use is far outside what its plan assumes.

CiteSite reports what search engines and AI assistants said at the moment we asked. Those systems are not ours. They change without notice, they answer the same question differently on different days, and they are occasionally wrong. Two scans that disagree are usually the engines disagreeing, not a fault.

Where a result was produced by the built-in simulator rather than a live engine, the interface labels it as simulated. Do not treat anything so labelled as a measurement.

Nothing here is a promise about your rankings, your traffic, your revenue, or whether any assistant will mention you. We sell measurement and prioritised suggestions, not outcomes.

Drafts are produced by AI models from your site and the findings for it. As between you and us, they are yours: publish, edit or discard them freely.

They are drafts. They can be inaccurate, generic, or unintentionally similar to something else. Review before publishing — what goes on your site is your responsibility, including whether it is true.

Do not resell or redistribute the service without our agreement, try to break or circumvent the plan limits, attempt to reach another customer’s data, or use the service to break the law. Automated access outside the product’s own interface is not permitted unless we have agreed to it.

We aim to keep the service running and give notice of planned maintenance where we can. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and scans depend on third-party providers who have their own outages and rate limits. A delayed scan is not a breach of this agreement.

Your account details, your sites and everything measured for them remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to crawl the sites you add, query engines about them, store the results, and show them back to you.

The software, the scoring, the interface and the CiteSite name remain ours.

You may stop at any time by cancelling and deleting your websites. Deleting a website removes its history permanently, so export first if you want to keep it.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is being used to harm someone, or whose payments have failed and stayed unpaid. Where circumstances allow, we will warn you first.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost traffic, lost rankings or indirect losses, and our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will email you before it takes effect, so continuing to use the service is a choice rather than something that happened to you.
